About Us

Monarch Mountain officially started as a ski area in 1939, although people had been skiing the mountains surrounding the valley for as far back as 1914. To us, ''Monarch Country'' is an all-encompassing appreciation for the ski towns that lay in our surrounding valleys and the people who call them home. Our roots run deep here, extending as far as Pueblo. From Gunnison to Buena Vista, Salida to Colorado Springs and everywhere in between, we would like this to be recognized as one community, bonded by our love for the mountains and the snow and water provided by them.
